Italy – Sicilian Assembly approves launch of two casinos

The Sicilian Regional Assembly has approved a bill paving the way for two casinos in Sicily, one in Palermo in the northwest of the island and one in Taormina in the north east.
A proposal for a third casino in Trapani was however rejected. The measure will now be considered by Italian Parliament in Rome.
Lino Leanza, author of the bill, said: “Two casinos on the island will be an important driver of tourism growth and development. I hope that the National Parliament agrees with the deputies elected in Sicily.”
Regional Directors Goofy Currenti and Toto Lentini said: “The opportunity to bring a casino to Siciliy is one we cannot afford to miss. Too often tourists leave the region to go to the nearby islands of Malta to play in a casino.”
